Fall session ideas

1. Use the blog to post parent resources.
2. Arrange a field trip for clients to educational locations i.e. Science Centre, Kortright, Cold Creek etc.

End of summer…

The summer is only a breath away from back-to-school shopping, reorganising and getting in the school mindset.

I will be getting lots of business cards and dropping them off at nearby schools.

I have been tutoring for quite some time now across all ages and a variety of subject matter.
Peer Tutoring at Maple High School
Volunteering with Toronto Public Library’s “Leading to Reading”
Tutoring Privately
Tutoring as a “Tutor in the Classroom” for YRDSB
Volunteering and practice teaching Drama, English and Social Science

So far I have done a lot of literacy work, work learning to read with early readers (grades 1-3), homework help and course-specific high school tutoring.

I can’t wait for the new school year to start!

Summer…

I haven’t posted in AGES!
I was working as a tutor at Kleinburg Public School for the spring, which was fabulous.
Once summer hit, I headed off to Muskoka to be nanny for a family that I tutor. I have been training and studying hard to prepare myself for taking the world of personal training head-on. It has been great to see childhood development and enjoy the beauty of nature. Coming back to the gritty city will be hard…

Funky Art!

I had to take a picture of this kid’s art! It looks like some of the stuff my aunt did in the 60s. It’s fabulous!

Finished!

I am finally done all of my required courses and practicum placements required to graduate! Now it’s just a matter of waiting for the paperwork to arrive….

I said goodbye to my students at my placement on Wednesday and was lucky enough to start work Thursday at through a program called tutors in the classroom. I am working in primary classes giving 1-on-1 or small group support. Because of my involvement with the local museum and pool I know an have already taught at least 1 student in each class. It’s great to see these students in a more formal academic setting and get to know them a bit better.

The school has great positive atmosphere and I am really happy to be there!

Cool tool for students to make videos

This is pretty cool and easy. I think it would be a great way for students to learn and create!
